Following a presentation to Mr. Semar for his outstanding accomplishments with the band in such a short period of time, the Jr/Sr High selections included "La Bamba" accompanied by Mr. Semar on the trombone; "I Will Follow Him", and "Song of Hope", "Ritmico".

Several students were recognized by Band Booster Club president, Elaine Crippen.

Lacy Lee - 11th Grade

Beckville Band Boosters Welcome New Director

Tuesday, August 3rd, Beckville Band Boosters hosted a pizza party to welcome Roy Semar and his wife to the school district. Many parents and students enjoyed meeting the new director who is formerly from Harleton ISD.

Mr. Semar recognizes the importance of promoting participation in the school band and encouraged every student present to contact their friends and make them aware of the new program being developed. Students have been anxious to learn which direction the band leadership would take, after one full semester of only having substitute instructors. This, following the retirement of former band director, Mr. Hobson at the end of 2003.

This week marks the beginning of morning practice for the band members, Wednesday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Approximately 30 students arrived on the first day for practice. Hopefully more will be encouraged to participate as Mr. Semar makes himself at home in Beckville ISD.
