Lights Out!

AEP Swepco reported 400 customers in the Beckville area were without power yesterday, December 7th, following a single vehicle accident in Beckville.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Will Searcy was involved in a single vehicle accident within a few feet of the AEP substation located at the intersection of Hwy. 959 and Hwy. 124 East.

Reports are that Will's brakes failed and caused him to lose control of the vehicle. He was shaken from the incident but not seriously injured. His vehicle was burned completely. Beckville VFD responded to the accident and were able to control the resulting fire.

Downed power lines and blown transformers were handled by personnel from AEP/Swepco and power was restored to the area at approximately 4:00 p.m.
